TRA at the Halbergs

Well, kind of… TRA partner Connon Bray was invited to support our clients, Paralympics New Zealand, at last nights Halberg Awards at Vector Arena in Auckland. While rubbing shoulders with the country’s sports elite, he had the pleasure of watching Hamish Bond and Eric Murray win the Supreme Halberg award, and Paralympic swimmer Sophie Pascoe as she received her second consecutive Disabled Sportsperson of the Year Award. Coincidentally, (we think not), Connon’s arrival was perfectly timed with the evenings sports news, who scrambled to cover his walk down the red carpet. As the media scramble ensued, TV 3 was the first to get a confirmed sighting, as shown below.

The Submarine Cable Map of 2013

Created by telecom research firm TeleGeography, and designer Markus Krisetya with sponsorship from (surprise entry…) Telecom Egypt (!!) this beautifully crafted map uses old-world cartography aesthetic to express the staggering network of unfathomably-long deep-sea cabling that drives the worlds communication in the present day. Just imagine those gigantic spools of cabling dropping off the side of some ship as it travels the oceans of the world!
